President Andrea Scheid opened the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Treasurer Keith Sykora presented a Treasurer's report which showed income and expenditures for the years 1998-2001 by category. Current Club balance is $2,798.56.
Andrea presented several brochures published by other car clubs and there was discussion about whether including some aspects of these publications would be helpful in the CSCC Directory or newsletter. It was decided that an attempt would be made to publish other clubs' event dates in our newsletter as such dates become available. Sally Carroll and Dave Bunsey will contact Tony Burgess and ask for his listings.
Neil asked that CSCC try to retain a relationship with Bob Voelker of Crawford, as he seemed to want to continue working with us. Dave Bunsey asked for Mr. Voelker's home address so that the Checkpoint can be mailed to him at home. Barb and John Tame presented a list of CSCC event dates and other event dates to Andrea.
Only $295.00 of club dues have been submitted to date. This is down from $615.00 last year. Zo will call currently active members and remind them that dues are due and the next Checkpoint will also include a reminder.
There was a discussion regarding the appropriate date for the Alley Ralley. This will be the Club's 50th annual Alley Ralley. It is typically held on Palm Sunday but that date is quite early this year. Sunday April 7th was chosen. Dave Bunsey has agreed to be rallymaster. 12 to 15 Club members will be needed to staff the rally. Sally Carroll will contact Brad Babcock to see if he can help with publicity for the event. Bill Gorris mentioned that some of the regional newspaper mentions may not be as easy to arrange as they have been in other years. Dave Bunsey requested permission to order l00 dash plaques prior to the event so that they can be included with registration packets. Postcards will be prepared and will be mailed about 2 weeks prior to the rally. Dave got the OK for plaques and postcards. A March business meeting will be necessary to plan the rally.
A discussion followed regarding meeting places and times for the year. Neil volunteered to secure a meeting place for the March meeting. A tentative calendar for the year was established.
Bill Gorris reported that he has put together CSCC files from his personal collection. Dave Bunsey asked to look at them first and hopes to use materials in the Checkpoint. The files will then be given to Andrea Scheid. Members enjoyed looking at some of the materials. Bill also said that he had been contacted by a new member, Mr. Goodwin, who inquired about early Put-in-Bay race results. John Tame asked if anyone has results from the 1957, 1958 and l959 races.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 p.m. and cake and coffee provided by the Scheids was enjoyed by all.
