President Andrea Scheid called the meeting to order at 8:15 p.m. at the Chesterland Tavern following a wonderful hour of good food, drinks, animated conversation and a lively game which included wonderful door prizes.
President Scheid introduced the evening's speaker, Ms. Terri Dull of Pease-Kerr Canfield Insurance Agency (440-285-3522 or 440-951-8178) of Chardon, Ohio. Ms. Dull spoke on insurance fraud and distinguished between soft and hard fraud within the industry. She elaborated the differences with stories and examples and the membership chimed in with their own stories of insurance fraud. Ms. Dull encouraged the club members to call the insurance fraud line if we become aware of an abuse and she outlined procedures to follow to protect ourselves if we are ever involved in an accident. She reminded us to always call the police if we are involved in an accident involving a child or a pregnant woman. Ms. Dull was an informative and engaging speaker. She was thanked by the club members with her choice of several door prizes.
Neil Scheid reported that the attendance at the May 10th Board of Trustees Meeting at Mickey Mishne's was limited to himself and Andrea. Early May is a busy time for everyone with graduations and other commitments. Neil and Andrea had a wonderful time viewing Mickey's collection of automotive art.
There was a discussion about club regalia. John Tame volunteered to bring price lists for clothing items which can be embroidered with the club logo. The discussion then turned to what items of regalia , club equipment, etc. are currently residing with members . It was decided that the Club would ask Checkpoint editor Dave Bunsey to include a call for such items in the next newsletter. If you are in possession of CSCC stop watches, banners, logo signs, racing banners, coffee pots, etc., please notify president Scheid. Bob Gecsi will order a second club banner to advertise club participation at local cruise -ins.
Chardon's Giant Eagle hopes to start a Thursday night cruise-in this summer. President Scheid asked that any member interesting in attending should contact her.
President Scheid asked if anyone was willing to assist with Club publicity. Ann Prusha volunteered.
The next CSCC meeting will be:
Friday, June 2lst
Claire's Grand River Winery
5750 Madison Road
Madison, OH 44057
(440) 298-9838
Members are requested to RSVP to president Scheid by June 17th and if attending should bring a wrapped "white elephant" gift to the event.
Neil Scheid reported on this month's "monkey business". Seems that after our rousing good time at Murphy's Tavern last month both his daughter and Andrea's son are now both working there . This secretary votes for returning there in the near future to help support the family business.
This secretary was asked by several of the members to record that it was at this meeting that our esteemed treasurer Keith Sykora was dubbed the "Short Dortmunder" by our delightful waitress.
The formal meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m. by president Scheid but many members lingered to continue talking.
