President Sally Carroll called the meeting to order at 8:20 p.m. following an enthusiastically enjoyed dinner of pizza, salad and dessert. Nancy and Carl Goodwin were welcomed as they are not often able to travel all the way from Norwalk for meetings.

Treasurer Keith Sykora announced that the club recently received a bequest from the estate of Mickey Mishne. A ten year financial summary report covering the years 1997 through 2006 was passed out. We have been a very fiscally prudent club. There was a discussion about Mickey's intent when he left us the funds and how we should spend it.

Without any formal votes, but with no objections we concluded:

  • Dues for Current members will be reduced to a nominal $l.00 per year rate.
  • Dues for new members be $20.00 for their first year of membership.
  • The Treasury will pick up all or some of costs related to meetings, meals and events.
  • We will maintain a reasonably healthy balance in the treasury (probably at the amount prior to the bequest)

John Quigley suggested that the next new event be named after Mickey Mishne. Neil Scheid asked if we could visit The Medina Toy and Train Museum again in Mickey's memory. Neil spoke fondly of a visit he and Andrea made to Mickey's own "Portholes on the Past" private museum when they were the only club members to take Mickey up on his offer to come see his vast collection of auto related art.

UPCOMING EVENTS

President Carroll reminded all members of the upcoming progressive dinner on October 8th. She also said that Bill Gorris was willing to host the November Wine and Cheese election meeting at his home with the understanding that Cedar Road is under construction and we might have to enter his property via the secondary Brainard Road driveway. Sally will check with Bill and see if Friday November 17th will be convenient for him.

Sally Carroll offered her home for the December potluck. Dates were discussed and discussed and Saturday December 16th seemed to be the most convenient date. Another option was Sunday December 10th.

Margo Johnson thanked us for the socks we donated to her students last year and indicated that such a collection would be appreciated again this year. Members were asked to bring adult size socks for both boys and girls to the December potluck. Margo will distribute them to her students.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
